First of all I want to introduce myself for the people who don’t know me yet.
I’m Daniëlle van Hamersveld and I’m dancing with SDS, team 2 for almost 5 months now.
I will keep you updated about our performances, events and news about our team.
Looking back at the year 2008 it has been an amazing year. We are very happy with some new team members. They started since august, after the auditions. The new team members are working hard to learn the show LaVenida. We hope to see them perform soon!!!
We worked hard with Sergio on his routine LaVenida. We’ve performed that show at the international salsa congress in Berlin, salsacongress in Haarlem and we did a couple national performances.
All team members have grown in their dancing and techniques.
We are working hard to finish two new shows…

They say that when asked how to sculpt a horse, the great Italian sculptor Michelangelo explained, "I see the horse in the stone; then I take away everything that is not the horse." And, as the Italians say, "se non è vero, è ben trovato" - even if Michelangelo didn't exactly say this, it's a good story about the visionary artist who realizes his work to perfection. How different from Salsa Dance Squad! On the road to perfection we come across so many interesting twists and turns, that the image of a horse that we start with, may change into a chameleon along the way. Or it may turn out to be a dinosaur, and we just forget about it. Salsa Dance Squad is exploding with creativity right now. We have seen the influx of many talented new dancers who bring their own ideas to the table, and this in turn invites existing members to expand their input. Some of the results are already being presented on stage, but the real outcome will be visible on the long run: Salsa Dance Squad is cooking up some great stuff for 2009, 2010, 2011. Of course I can't spill the details yet - anything that goes on in the SDS kitchen is confidential. And in the line of what U2's singer Bono said: creating shows is like making sausage: you'll be happier to enjoy the shows without thinking of how they are made... |
